From 1976 to 1988 — my heyday — the three television networks had the audacious dream to pit all of their major stars together in a sports battle to rival the Olympics in its glory. Where else could you see all your heroes together in one place in a tug of war? The Battle of the Network Stars!

Hosted of course by Howard Cosell, the teams were a who’s who of sitcom greats. If I listed them all it would make my head explode.

The 70s and 80s also produced a memorable team of child stars who (like me) spun out into the depths of drug addiction. This is my loving tribute to it all.
