Sir Loin of Beef

My faithful fans will remember in my painting “Vinyl #7: Prince Charming” I talked about how I used to wake my son up every morning saying, “Up and at ‘em, Atom Ant!”

When my friend Erik saw that he told me he used to wake his kid up every morning by saying, “Arise, Sir Loin of Beef!”

For those who are not in the know, this line comes from the 1949 Bugs Bunny Cartoon Rabbit Hood. In typical fashion, Bugs finds creative ways to foil his nemesis. In this case, it’s the Sheriff of Nottingham who is trying to stop him from eating carrots from the King’s Royal Garden. At one point, Bugs impersonates the King himself, only to trick the the Sheriff:

Bugs Bunny : Sheriff of Nottingham, in gratitude for your faithful service, I shall knight thee.

Sheriff of Nottingham : Your most gracious Majesty.

Bugs Bunny : In the name of my most royal Majesty, I knight thee.

Bugs Bunny : [Conks the Sheriff on the head with his scepter]  Arise, Sir Loin of Beef.

I never get tired of watching the clip. I laugh every time.

This one is a fun little piece for Erik and all the dads and Bugs Bunny fans out there.

Acrylic on canvas. Measures 8” x 10”.
